Reflection

I've learned a lot this semester, but the two most crucial lessons I've taken away are how to manage my time and maintain my composure. These things are crucial since they will benefit me later in life, particularly during the upcoming semester when I have homework that must be completed. I've learned to be more resilient in this class. Being able to bounce back from the many things going on at home to do my schoolwork has taught me that if I can turn in my work whatever the circumstances, then I can accomplish anything.  My ability to manage my time better since enrolling in this course. Although I do have other issues at home I'm experiencing, I've learnt to be resilient and make sure my work gets turned in. Instead of going out with friends and staying up late, binge-watching my favorite animes, i've learned to put my priorities first and fun second.

Discussion 6. Due: Compare and Contrast Donatello's and Michelangelo's "David."

Donatello's David for one is bronze and the expressions of both Michelangelo's "David" and Donatello's are different. Michelangelo's put a calmer, composed expression on his David. His David looks as if he's about to go into war with the giant whereas Donatello's "David" looks as if he had just won against the giant and he's proud of himself for his victory. Also, Donatello's "David" is more human sized verses Michelangelo's "David". Michelangelo's "David" is about three times the size of a human which gives off more of a superhuman aura.

Week 5: Artist and Artist Era

Image
For my project I chose Mark Newman and the era of hyperrealism.   Mark Newman is an American sculptor born in 1962. As of today, he has 20 years of sculpting experience and has sold his work in many stores such as Hallmark, Bowen Designs, Department 56 and more. He’s also created bronze statues for Stanford University. Mark spends much of his time in his studio making his hyper realistic sculptures and although he has many different styles, he is mostly recognized for his collaboration with Thomas Blackshear, both of them worked on a sculpting line called “Ebony Visions” I think Mark Newman really fits into this hyperrealism era because his sculptures offer variety while looking freakishly real. He doesn't have a specific style of sculpting because he sculpts just about everything from cartoon characters to real people.  I chose this era because it's very fascinating how artists, more specifically Mark can evoke certain emotions within the viewers.  I personally chose this era
